For a little while now we have been trying to have real "Sunday Dinner" experiences at our home. Since sometimes we are busy on Sunday, we can move our nice dinner to Saturday. Here's an example of what we had a few months ago:

Roasted Root Vegetable Salad |
|
Pesto-Stuffed Pork Chops (sparkling juice as well) |
We are lucky to eat dinner as a family virtually all nights, but I was finding it difficult to have "nicer" dinners as time gets crunched. Patty inspired me to make an effort to have Sunday Dinners, and we have been grateful for it! Sunday Dinner also includes good wine for the adults and dessert for everyone. The kids look forward to it all week (especially the dessert) and have actually stopped asking for dessert during the week since they know they'll have a fancy one on the weekend. We have fun planning and making the meal together. I encourage all my readers to try their own versions of "Sunday Dinner"!!
What a great tradition! I like the dessert thing too, I need limits on dessert just like the kids do :-) It would be so much easier to go without dessert most days knowing that there's going to be an AMAZING dessert on Sundays!
ReplyDeleteBecky,
ReplyDeleteI have tried to incorporate Sunday Dinner as well (we aren't always great about it) and really enjoy using my china. Sierra likes to get into it by finding fun and beautiful ways to fold the napkins.
