Seriously though I think you should get a small dog so it can be inside--outside only dogs make me sad. I think a small dog would be more kid-sized anyways, the kids can walk it, carry it around, etc. (just like Lucy!)
Gem really liked Lucy...but it was Bunny who picked up the poopie. :o)
Yes we were going to get an outdoor farm dog (think: invisible fence, playing with ponies and homeschooled kids, chasing squirrels) but now we think a small indoor dog. We'll see....

a farm dog would be nice too, and personally I like big dogs better, I just don't like the idea of dogs living outside only.
