Fun at Squire Boone Caverns

No school field trip would be complete without a trip to the gift shop for souvenirs. Uncle Tony made pressed pennies for each of the kids.

There were little shops around the main building, each with a pioneer craft theme. We visited a bakery, a soap shop, and a candle-maker.

The gristmill was cool, the water came from the river that flows IN the cave.

The demonstrator showed how the water speed is controlled, and how the mechanisms grind the grain. History lesson, check. Mechanical engineering lesson, check.

It was all very cool of course, but I think the kids enjoyed the ~cool~ water play the most.
