Christmas Fun Day

Last week we had fun on our annual Christmas Fun Day in downtown Portland. After parking in a parking garage we walked across Pioneer Courthouse Square on our way to Macy's. A stop at the tree: (btw I think the NYC tree IS bigger, wider at least)

We saw Santa!

This is the original monorail train that used to run at this Macy's for Santaland:

Looking at some nice displays:

Of course the kids realized after leaving Santa that they had forgot to mention a few things they wanted. This greatly worried them until Marcus suggested we write Santa a letter explaining the situation:

Next we walked to our favorite downtown toy store, Finnegan's. The kids loved looking at, and playing with, all the great toys:

We ate dinner at the Deschutes Brew Pub:

I had the Yellow Belly Burger. Here is the description:

(Voted Best Burger at Brew ‘n Burgers, 2011)
Seared Coleman Ranch beef, root beer braised pork belly, jalapeno pesto, whipped goat cheese and candied yellow tomatoes on fresh baked mustard ciabatta $15

It was really good, interesting. I could taste each of the flavors, especially the root beer from the pork belly. The goat cheese was delicious with the tomatoes. Yum!

Then off to pick up dessert at Cupcake Jones. We like Saint Cupcake better but C.J. was right there and they do make good cupcakes. Our last stop was Powell's for a little down time before going home to decorate our Christmas tree:

Another very successful "Christmas Fun Day!"
