Inside the beautiful church:
Marcus lit a candle for our kids. We miss them already but we know they are having a great time with grandma.
Then we took a walk around Rockefeller Center, to see the tree and the sights. From an article on NYC:
The main attraction is the 74-foot Christmas tree, which is from Mifflinburg, Pa., this year, topped by a Swarovski crystal star. The tree's 30,000 lights were lit for the first time on Nov. 30.
Here is me and the tree!
I was still far away from the tree, it really is very big although I do think that Portland's might be taller (not to brag). We had to see the skaters of course:
Then we walked back towards Times Square to grab a bite to eat. There were a lot of choices and we took so long to decide, I was ready to eat a hot dog from a street vendor! But knowing me, that is not saying much. Anyway we took in all the lights and I loved every moment:
We decided on an Irish pub. It was a hoppin' place, and the waitresses all spoke with an Irish accent. Of course they could've been actresses but it sounded cool. Here we are with Marcus' coworker Joe:
They had a full menu but we decided on Irish, of course...corned beef/cabbage/potatoes, bangers & mash, and shepherd's pie. The kids would be shocked to learn that people actually pay money for shepherd's pie, and not only that, but the restaurant's shepherd's pie tastes like what mommy makes! Maybe mom is not such a bad cook after all.
We walked through Times Square to get back to our hotel. By this time I think it was around 9:30 pm.
This picture is for Gemma:
What a great couple of hours in the Big Apple. Tomorrow Marcus has an early-morning meeting that runs through lunch, and so I will sleep in a little and then walk around wherever I want! I have a map (I will look like a lame tourist) so I should be fine. Marcus and I will meet up around 2pm and then we will go to Macy's and just walk around town. Be looking for the new pictures tomorrow, kids!

You lucky dog! Christmas time in NYC!
ReplyDeleteWe went to Mass at St. Matthew's for the feast day, and I saw your children there with their grandmas, and I was wondering where you were!

Look SO awesome!! Someday I'll make it there!!...maybe :-) Right now I just have to live vicariously through others :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun, post more photos!
ReplyDeleteDo you think being away from the kids this time is easier than being away from the kids to come home for grandpa's funeral?
We are having a lot of fun. I miss the kids and grandma but I know they are having fun too. This trip is a little easier on me since I now know that Gemma will be ok without me, and I'm with Marcus which is really special. The funeral was different because I didn't know how Gemma would be, and I was travelling alone. But that too was special because of family so I am happy to have the opportunity for both.
ReplyDeleteThe kids loved all the pictures. And Gemma especially liked Elmo Bird. I'm very happy you two are enjoying yourselves.
