On the homestead

Strawberry harvest time (circa 39+ weeks pregnant):

Marcus caught a glimpse of the raccoon again, this time at the base of our octagon deck outside the fence. Yes, in the day time! He grabbed his gun but it was too late. But he did get some target practice at some squirrels.

  1. Beautiful strawberries. Beautiful belly!
Tell Marcus to get a trap. That's how we got our raccoons. We caught 3!

  3. Or just stop killing animals......you're never going to get rid of them all! Can you build more protection round your garden?

    1. Ahhh, words from a gardener, not a farmer... ;o) The circle of life, Erica!! Really though, we catch the squirrels and release them for the most part, and haven't seen a raccoon at all except the last few months. Marcus has a trap but Shane is borrowing it. We'll probably try the trap next. But if the raccoon kills the chickens or Daisy, then no holds barred!

    3. For the most part....unless you feel like target practice....

I'm sure the raccoon is there because she is finding something yummy to eat . Have you tried taking away that temptation?
